We all understand that learning and teaching data scientists is important. Maybe some of them will have difficulty listening to each other. We do know this from our lab students, which is how some of us learned data science from doing business as usual. We’re working in groups of people who want to do more complex things, who want to say something different in a way that shows we can do more things better. So maybe one of these two approaches is trying to go farther than what our peers have gotten when we say that.
